Hot Off the Press

A cooperative exhibition at Highpoint Center for Printmaking, hung under the same name in two successive years, showing what the co-op’s presses had newest given up. The maker’s work hung in both.

These were the periphery years of the sojourn: days given to the design trade, the art close enough to ache, too far to hold. The co-op shows were the discipline that kept him printing at all, a deadline arriving each year whether the nights at the press had been many or few. What he pulled for them the record does not itemize; that it was pulled, and hung, and hung again the next year, the ledger holds.
