Bramble the Badger: The Summer Tree Quest
a participatory puppet show in a hexagonal wagon-theater
June 20, 2026 · Kewaunee County and northeast Wisconsin
A live puppet performance staged in a portable hexagonal wagon-theater whose six faces rotate sixty degrees per scene, carousel or volvelle style. Bramble the Badger, a gentle, curious, bumbling local Wisconsin badger, journeys through six rotating chambers, each tied to a Widdershins cosmology theme, gathering a symbol of summer to restore a fading World Tree. Each chamber holds an antagonist causing imbalance, all ultimately redeemable, and an interactive audience ritual: a call-and-response chant, a crafting gesture, a shared memory, a flame chant, a web of kinship passed hand to hand.
Designed for twilight in a grove of trees, families on blankets, fairy lights in the branches. When all six symbols are gathered, the audience helps awaken the tree in a communal, Totoro-inspired finale, arms raised and stretching like growing branches while soft light rises from the cart and the tree puppet unfolds, glowing.
Forthcoming. The six chambers of the wagon are the six chambers of the Wheel, made small enough to tour.
